hints/unicode_input kittens: Do not lose keypresses that are sent very rapidly via an automation tool immediately after the kitten is launched
...
We now buffer the key events until the kitten tells us it is ready.
Without this the key presses are delivered to the underlying window
as the kitten's overlay window was not being focused until the kitten
set the ready message.

Discard OSC 9 notifications that start with 4;
...
Some misguided software is using it for "progress reporting". OSC 9 has
a decade plus history of being used for notifications but because
Windows Terminal decided to use it for progress reporting, without
bothering to do research about conflicting existing uses, systemd of all
things wants to adopt it!! Crazy world we live in.
Since actual notifications are highly unlikely to start with 4; we
hopefully don't break any real world use cases and also don't let
systemd spam our users with endless notifications.

Apparently with explicit sync it is now not possible to attach a
temporary buffer to a surface that also has an OpenGL context. So we
first attach the temporary buffer, and only after we are done waiting
for window creation do we attach the OpenGL context to the window
surface.

This matches the docs for the goto_tab action and there is no reason not
to have this. For backwards compat 0 and -1 both go to the first previously
active tab as before. However -2 goes to the second previously active
tab, -3 to the third and so on.

macOS: Bump the minimum required macOS version to Catalina released five years ago.

Catalina is actually already EOL as of July 2022 but we dont need
anything from newer releases that isn't detected at runtime. Going to
Catalina allows us to use a better format for the generated DMG (UMNO
instead of ULFO which compresses better).

For some reason destroying the shadow surfaces causes mutter to render one of them at its old relative position. So workaround by not destroying the surfaces, modern mutter anyway seems to hide them when the window is docked.

Remove workaround for kwin sending out of order events press/focus events on Wayland as it is not needed with up-to-date kwin and causes issues with multiple OS windows.

The code wasnt correct anyway as active_draw_in_window was a window id

Prevents users from having to install their own NERD font. System fonts
are still used preferentially on Linux but on macOS the builtin one is
used preferentially. Cant find any CoreText API to change this.

macOS: Fix rendering of the unicode hyphen (U+2010) character when using a font that does not include a glyph for it
...
The problem was caused by CoreText falling back to the glyph for the
ASCII hyphen U+00AD when the font does not contain a glyph for U+2010.
However, HarfBuzz does not do this automatic fallback (see
https://github.com/harfbuzz/harfbuzz/issues/517 ). This leads to the
character not being rendered.
To fix this we specialize HarfBuzz glyph lookup for this character
to follow CoreText. HarfBuzz should really do this automatically when
the hb_font is based on a CTFontRef, but I dont have the time/energy to
argue with its maintainers. Note that HarfBuzz already does this
automatic fallback for U+2011.
Hopefully, there aren't many more such special cases in CoreText.

Drop support for 32-bit x86 prebuilt binaries

SIMDe 0.8.2 doesnt build on 32 bit and while that will likely be fixed
eventually, 32bit isn't tested in CI and generally speaking there isn't
much use for this platform anymore. I dont know of any 32-bit computers
in common use these days.
As such the overhead of maintaining these is not worth it for me.
kitty itself remains buildable on 32-bit though no guarantees for how
long that will last. kitten remains available on 32bit.

Wayland labwc: Fix kitty timing out waiting for compositor to quit fucking around with scales on labwc

labwc is unique among Wayland compositors in implementing fractional
scale but not preferred integer buffer scale events. We didn't cater to
this particular combination of before. And to top it off it appears to
have no way for the user to set/control the scale so I cant even test
what it will do with fractional scales other than 1. Sigh. As with all
things Wayland, you need to be a masochist to subject yourself to them.

Fix flickering of prompt during window resize

Works by keeping the old prompt unreflowed rather than clearing it.
There may still be some flicker for people using long or right side
prompts, but that cant be avoided, since we cannot know how the shell
will redraw after the resize. But in the common case of a left side
smallish prompt that fits in the resized window, the flicker is
eliminated.
It means we have to do some more copying work on resize, but the nicer
visuals is worth it, IMO.

fish integration: drop redundant OSC 133 markers in upcoming fish 3.8

The upcoming fish 3.8 release will output OSC 133 sequences
unconditionally [1].
I tested ctrl-shift-{g,x,z} bindings both without and with kitty's
shell integration on top; everything seems to work.
Let's simplify kitty integration by removing the markers for the
upcoming fish >= 3.8.
I have hopes that the native OSC 133 implementation address #7200
though I'm not sure if I could reproduce this bug (I only saw a
similar bug when `fish_handle_reflow` was not enabled, which fish
also does now (same commit)).
cc @iacore let me know if you can reproduce #7200 with latest fish master.

On second thoughts dont use foreground process env vars for kitten @ ls

Since the purpose of the env vars is mostly to recognize windows the
original env vars make more sense. Also I dislike changing behavior for
no good reason.
